This is a family recipe which I cannot do without at Christmas. Little ones will grow to like that unique taste of aniseeds.

Never make half the amount, you will regret it.

Ingredients

  • eggs, 3
  • sugar, 300g
  • almonds whole, unpeeled and cut in 3 pieces each, 200g
  • raisins, 150g
  • aniseeds, 2 Tbsp
  • flour, 300g

Preparation

  1. Crush the aniseeds with the pestle and mortar and a little sugar
  2. Mix the eggs and the sugar until white and foamy
  3. Add the almonds, raisins, crushed aniseeds
  4. Add the flour and mix well until all the flour has been absorbed
  5. Prepare a baking sheet by covering it with paper or oil on the back side (!)
  6. Pre-heat the oven at 160°C
  7. Pour the mix over the greased baking sheet and spread about 1 cm thick
  8. Cook in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until just golden on the edges
  9. Take the cooked dough off the baking sheet and cut in diamond shapes while still hot.
  10. Let cool on a wire rack
